Viro-Cell lawn, the warm season grass equivalent to seeding.
Most parts of Australia require warm season grasses for lawns, and not the thirsty cool season grasses that can be seeded.
Fescue and Rye grass are cool season grasses and in hot humid climates cool season lawn grasses get disease and drought stress and die. Unless you are a green keeper or have similar knowledge of cool season grasses it is almost impossible to achieve a good long term lawn in most parts of Australia.
Warm Season Grasses make up most of Australian lawns. They are the only choice in climates such as QLD and should be in Sydney. They make a logical choice in most other parts of Australia, including Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide etc. Buffalo, Kikuyu, Couch and more. Seed is either not available for the warm season lawns we use or is so slow to establish it is not a viable option for lawn establishment. So in Sydney and other areas almost everyone lays turf to establish a new lawn. This is an extremely efficient system and works well.

alternative to turf. Who will use this?
1. Those who want to save up to 75% on their new lawn.
2. Those who do not mind waiting for 3 to 6 months for a new lawn.
3. Large sites where the cost of turf is prohibitive.
4. To patch up bare areas in existing lawns.
The Viro-Cell Concept
A Viro-Cell is a special deep seedling developed for growing grasses (See picture). Six to ten of these plants are planted per square metre into a prepared area. Preparation for Viro-Cells is the same as for any other lawn.
How quickly will the lawn establish, given adequate fertiliser?
This is dependent on when the Viro-Cells are planted and what type of lawn. eg: Kikuyu planted in November, should be a full lawn in 3 months. Buffalo may take 2 to 3 months longer whilst Couch may take 1 month longer.
