Phormium tenax 'Sweet Mist'    'PHOS2'

Sweet Mist is an ultra compact Phormium, with an exceptional bronze colour. Due to its size it is not as tolerant to humidity as larger Phormium's, however it will thrive in temperate areas in Australia, including VIC, SA, WA, TAS, ACT and the southern Coast of NSW. Phormium's need a little more water than Dianella, but are still low water users in South Australia.

Description: One of the most compact, small forms of Phormium released on the market. Its beautiful bronze foliage provides stunning contrast to the garden. Growing to an approximate height of 35-40cm tall, it provides a great alternative to the garden.

Position: Grows well in full sun to shaded positions. Tolerates heavy frost and moderately dry conditions. Suitable for most soil types. In more humid areas care should be taken to plant in well drained soils.

Uses: Ideal for mass planting as a low border or fill in plant. Its bronze colour makes it an excellent choice for contrasting with green foliage. Being a smaller form it is well suited to the smaller modern garden. It is also good for containers and patios.

Care: Low maintenance once established. When planting Sweet Mist, ensure the crown or base of the plant is not planted below the soil level. Apply coarse grade mulch to reduce weed growth and keep the root zone cold and moist . Water as required.
