Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Black Lea'

Pennisetum 'Black Lea', a semi dwarf grass that grows to 600mm tall, has broad green foliage with stunning black flower plumes February to April. This grass is only suited to mulched irrigated gardens. 'Black Lea' will burn off quickly in frosted situations, but will re-shoot in Spring. Ideal for irrigated gardens, golf courses, high maintenance gardens and commercial buildings. Makes a great contrast plant for other Pennisetum alopecuroides.

Please note only the seed head is black, with green foliage.

This
spectacular plant must be grown with occasional irrigation, as it is not
as drought tolerant as some of the other varieties. For golf courses and
garden beds it can make a spectacular statement. Grows in most of
Australia.
